COME RUN A MILE IN MY SHOES
The city looks completely different depending on where you lace up.
About Glenn
Glenn Hans is the founder of Vannie Hanover Park — a free community aerobics club and, now, the first running club Hanover Park has ever had. He built both from scratch, outdoors, in public spaces, because he understood something the city's urban planners haven't figured out yet: wellness is how you hold a community together when everything else is pushing it apart.
He is not a guide. He is not a cautionary tale. He is a community leader who made a deliberate choice about what kind of life he wanted to build — and then built it, one run, one session, one person at a time.
When you run with Glenn, you are not being taken somewhere. You are being let into something that already exists and matters deeply to the people in it.
Glenn runs every Wednesday at 18:00 through Hanover Park with his community. You can join that run exactly as it is — no itinerary, no script, no separation between you and the people who show up every week regardless of whether a visitor is coming.
That's the point. You are not the event. You are a guest at something that was already happening.
The run is the vehicle. The stories come on the way. Glenn will tell you about the streets you're moving through, what they've been, what they're becoming, and what it actually takes to build something positive. By the end of an hour, you will understand Hanover Park in a way that no amount of reading could give you.
Glenn has a life, and sometimes that life opens up. A community event he's running. A fitness session in the courtyard with the aunties and the teenagers side by side. A moment where Hanover Park is doing exactly what he always knew it could. When those moments are available and the timing works, you get to be part of them.
“Hanover Park is a place for beautiful opportunities. There are positive people, positive transmitters in this community. It is a great place where you can make history by doing positive things.”
